Sri Lankan star Kamindu Mendis has had an extraordinary start to his Test career, scoring outstanding performances every time he has taken the field since his debut in July 2022. The young all-rounder has scored at least one fifty-plus score in all of his first six Tests.

Sri Lanka managed to stay ahead of the proceedings on an eventful opening day of the first Test against a visiting New Zealand side in Galle on Wednesday, September 18. Kamindu Mendis's hundred was the highlight of the Sri Lankan first innings as the hosts reached Stumps at 302 for 7 in 88 overs.

Centurion Kamindu Mendis led Sri Lanka to a total of 302-7 on the first day of the opening Test against New Zealand in Galle with a score of 114. Despite early trouble at 106-4, Kamindu's century and key partnerships helped SL recover.
