Israel and Hezbollah accelerated their cross-border attacks overnight into Sunday, in a rapidly deteriorating situation that has the adversaries as close to full-out war as they have been in their nearly yearlong conflict.

The death toll from a "targeted attack" by the Israeli military on a Beirut suburb Friday rose to 37, including seven women and three children, Lebanon's health minister said on Saturday, as Israel and the militant group Hezbollah continued to trade strikes. The U.S. also urged Americans in Lebanon to leave the country.

Iran's U.N. envoy warned the country had the "right to take all necessary measures to respond to this egregious violation."

Sunday opened with a new barrage of Hezbollah fire into northern Israel, per the Israel Defense Forces, which continued its own campaign of cross-border strikes.

The Hezbollah militia reported launching an attack on an industrial complex and an Israeli military base near the port city of Haifa in northern Israel early on Sunday, while the Israeli army said it launched attacks on Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon.
